Hviezdoslavovo námestie 10
NESTOR PALACE
The building is located in the city’s historical district within the culturally preserved zone and is listed as a historical monument. In the vicinity are the Devin and Danube Hotels, the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the Diplomatic Mission of the United States of America and other buildings mainly utilised for administrative purposes and to a lesser degree as residential houses.
The Palace was built in the first half of the 19th century and has since then been reconstructed several times, most recently in 1993 – 1996, where its outside design was especially restored to its original condition. The building has five stories: a basement (below floor), three above-ground floors and a loft. It is currently the seat of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany. The building’s main entrance is on Rybné Námestia while the adjacent visa section operates from an entrance at Hviezdoslavovo Namestie.
The building was originally used until the end of the 1920’s primarily as a residence and included representation spaces on the street wing.
