Podjavorinskej 4

Administrative and residential complex

Originally a rented house located on Podjavorinská ul. 4 (a continuation of Panenská ulica toward Zochová ulica), in the city’s outer centre, it is a small historically preserved area located within a row of houses and consists altogether of four parcels. Residential houses, schools and administrative buildings and a retirement home have been built nearby. The complex has a U-shaped floor plan, where an English-style courtyard permits lighting of the longitudinal courtyard within the basement. A four-story administrative and operations building is located in Parcel No. 740 includes a built-up attic, three wings and a front courtyard.  The building is listed in the Central Register of the Cultural Monuments. In 1997, the City Institute for the Protection of Historic produced for the building, representing the peak period of eclecticism in the period before the end of the 19th century,  the Basic Conditions for Preparing and Realising State Historical Care”.  It was stated in these basic conditions that this building was probably built in 1874 and the courtyard was added to the street wing in 1887.

The building was originally used until the end of the 1920’s primarily as a residence and included representation spaces on the street wing.
